Benchpress Workout
One of the most popular exercises is a bench-press workout. When bench pressing, you are working multiple muscle groups within your upper body. What’s more, all it takes to switch the emphasis is a shift in your grip. That’s part of why bench pressing is so popular.
When doing a bench-press workout there are a few ways to modify your workout to include different muscle groups. For instance, utilizing a narrower grip will work your triceps more, while using a wider grip focuses more on the pectoral muscles. Another thing you can do is change the incline. A flat bench is the default, but inclining or reclining the bench to raise or lower your chest allows you to work different muscle groups as well.
While a bench-press workout is something that you can do to effectively build strength; it is not a workout you should try alone. A spotter isn’t just a recommendation; it’s a necessity to avoid injury. While pressing, you’ll be lowering a large amount of weight directly onto your chest. If you can’t lift it, you’ll be stuck there and could sustain serious injury. Even worse, if you were to lose your grip and the bar started to roll, it could easily roll off onto your head or neck. That’s why it’s vital to always use a spotter.
